We’re currently in the middle of a pretty much full-gut renovation so all the walls are open and its Halloween so the stores are full of plastic skeletons . There’s even a “priest hole” type unused space above the stairs under the eaves.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Trick question of course, cos it’s not a good idea but is funny. My friend's suggestion is slip some beers to the drywall crew and never tell anyone...

H ow would you dress them? Santa suit? New year’s 2020 party hat? Covid mask? Jimmy Hoffa driver’s license?

New year’s 2020 party hat? Covid mask?

Yes to both of those.

Oh, shit, yeah. Do it.

Don’t waste a mask on a prank, put something more like a 1920's gangster-style getup in there.

Buy $20 of Hot Wheels (good ones, not fake made up models) and leave them in there unopened .

My house is only from 1959, maybe 70's pimp would be more fitting

I’d put in shelves before closing in a big unused space like that, but if you do close it in, a skeleton in a new years 2020 hat is perfect.

I love this idea so much!!! Maybe two skeletons 69-ing with a couple of condom wrappers and lube?

Treat this as a time capsule too. Leave some Matchbox models in there maybe? A copy of Motor Trend possibly. Maybe some random household products still in the box.

Definitely the skeleton though. And don’t forget to mask it up!

Definitely a covid mask. That will really date it perfectly . Slipping the drywall crew some beers, or buying them lunch, and not saying anything is an excellent idea.

I have a dead space corner in my kitchen that can’t be accessed under the counters. I taped a coin and put “emergency savings” on it.

Wish I had thought of the skeleton, though. Staring up at you as you looked down into the hole.

Another option is a manky old piece of taxidermy...

These are all excellent suggestions. A time capsule with some investment tokens. Nothing valuable now but in 20, 30 years? And something that will survive mostly intact if the house is demoed. A skeleton, even plastic will stop the crew to take a closer look. And the mask! Heh.

Under Sparrow’s mast is glued a bronze Roman coin from ~430 AD. It’s maybe worth what Sparrow is but I had a few at the time. It’s there as a good luck piece. I’m not superstitious, I’m just a little stitious.

Why should you have to convince her?  Anyone can see this is a brilliant idea.

I thought about at least putting in a hatch but it’s a really poorly insulated manky space that’s hard to access. The hatch would either be over the front door or right in front of you going down the stairs so it’s probably just getting sealed for another 50 years or so.

Wall the skeleton up wearing a Who Wants to be a Millionaire? T-shirt surrounded by a bunch of canned water and freeze dried foods in tubs with “Y2K S upplies” labels

In my last house there was a former vent between the kitchen ceiling and the 2nd floor hallway (house predated central heating). When I closed it up, I put a thrift store teddy bear in there with a (clearly written by an adult) sign that said “Teddy has been a very naughty bear”.
